Facebook Withdrawal!!

After getting fleeced out of 60 rupees (almost $1.50) for my airport frappuccino I finally met up with my friend and her cousin for my ride to LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI).  I am so thankful for that ride!  The airport was SO busy.  But, I found my way, or rather my ride found me.  There are so many things I forgot about India that came flooding back as soon as I got off the plane.  All the traffic.  The loud honking.  The lack of personal space (a personal pet peeve of mine). The Indian head bob.

The best thing about my little room is the free wifi, making blogging all that much easier!  Sadly, most of the good websites are blocked because it's the hospital wifi...thus no facebook.  I think I'm already going into withdrawal.  I know, embarrassing, but true.  I have a great roommate though, and have already started to make friends with some of the short term fellows so at least I will be occupied and no sitting in my room longing for facebook.

The One That Got Away

Nothing like arriving to a new country and the first thing you hear on the radio is a top US pop song.  Thank you Katy Perry for making me feel at home while I'm traveling abroad by myself.  Ok, so I'm only at Heathrow catching the bus to my connecting terminal.  But it definitely made me smile and softly sing along :)

So far so good with my travels.  As I board the plane at Heathrow to travel to Hyderabad, I look around and find myself in the minority and nervous.  Not because I'm scared of being one of the only white girls around.  I just can't believe I'm actually doing this.  And this time alone!  Thank goodness for my friend, Charita, who is meeting me at the airport in Hyderabad.  Let's just hope she found my email about the change in my flight schedule.....

Off to a good start?

Sitting in the food court in Chicago's O'Hare airport is not where I thought I'd be at this point (the beginning) in my trip. Originally scheduled to fly from Charlotte to Newark to Mumbai to Hyderabad, I was excited to get so spend a few hours in Mumbai (aka Ballywood), albeit all in the airport. Due to my first flight being delayed I ended up being rerouted to Chicago to London to Hyderabad. This will be my third trip to London, well, Heathrow, more specifically. One of these days I should actually take a trip to Europe instead of just passing through on my way to and from India. I just hope that the slight craziness that's starting out my trip isn't indicative of my whole trip. Either way, I'm up for an adventure!!
